The children's guide to quantum entanglement |
came across this, and I thought it was pretty slick. It's a difficult topic to explain lucidly - especially to the little ones. |

part tracker |
alright, the illperipherals part tracker is about ready to go live. for those of you who are unfamiliar, here is a quick rundown. it all started the fiftykagillionth time I dug through the same bag of tangled cables looking for a particular connector. I broke down and grabbed a palm and threw all of my power adapters into a flat file db. then I thought, why stop there? why not just try for once to get organized and stop wasting all this damn time digging around for things that I'm not even really sure I still own. so with that, the part tracker was born. with much owed to the tireless dedication (and patience) of V and a few other kind souls, my cable situation is pretty much worked out. I have several new shelving units, a tacklebox, and numerous bins to stow all the "junk" in. anyways, a while back my bro Erick was working on a notebook in the office and I realized that I know quite a few people who have as much random computer gear laying around as I do. long story short, the part tracker will allow you to catalog whatever computer/electronic component, cable, etc, that you want and allow other members of the tracker to search your records and contact you if they need something you have. it's not intended to be a "for cash" trade board - it's just sometimes you need a 15-pin to female-midi but you don't really want to throw down 25 bones for one at the store. keep your eyes peeled, and I'll try to get it up here in the next few days. |

IE woes |
Well, I was playing around with AdSense Search this evening, and I was having a bit of trouble getting the module background to display correctly in Internet Explorer. After messing with it for a bit I came to a realization - I don't use IE. I am not selling anything here. I don't really care how it looks in IE. So, if you are running IE and you don't like the way that something looks here, go get Firefox. |

Joomla! |
finally made the move from Mambo over to Joomla. good things. good things. I had to make a few changes, but they should be transparent. I think everything should work at least as well as it did previously. If not, lemme know and I'll address the issue asap. |

SoulStroke Art Studio |

SoulStroke Art Studio is now online. I designed the site for my friend David Eckman, an artist here in Austin. He primarily uses spraypaint and acrylics. Be sure to check him out. |

New Home Automation Bookmarks Section |
added a new 'home automation' section to the bookmarks section. right now it's just a few random links that I have come across, but hopefully it will soon develop into a decent reference for shoestringing a SmartHome around linux boxen. -t |

decided to put a cam up |
well, I figured that because I spend pretty much all day at my terminal, I might as well throw a cam up so folks could see if I was around. anyways, if you don't want to look at me, just use adblock. I'm using 'webcam' feeding a frame every 30 seconds or so from my kubuntu box over to my webserver. I have also recently set up a cctv system around my house to monitor entrances. It started to get really old having to stop what I was working on and walk downstairs everytime someone rang the doorbell, so I decided to get a camera and a door strike. Now, when someone rings the bell, I can see exactly who it is and just hit a button on my keychain to "buzz" them in. My girlfriend was a little hesitant about the automation gear at first, but she is starting to slowly accept it. I will be sure to keep updates on the system progress posted here. -t |
