Spurl.net Profile Plugin |
I once again loaded the Spurl.net profile plugin to the site. I wrote it some time back, but I took it down for some reason or another. It seems to work fine over here, but if you have problems with it, lemme know.
to enable, simply add your Spurl.net username within your profile.

YBOX - turns a TV into a simple, web configurable "Dashboard" |
Gnomic sent in this device that turns a TV into a simple, web configurable "Dashboard" - "YBox is a prototype/proof-of-concept for an ultra-cheap, always on, internet appliance that attaches to a standard TV set. The YBox is like Konfabulator for TV, turning TV into a platform for helpful, easy-to-read, live internet "channels". It was Created for Yahoo's first open "hack day", Hackday 2006, where it took 2nd place." - Link.
Hmm, I hope they release the schematics/source when/it's complete. Nice Altoids case!

hmmmn. . .
yeah, site's been down for a couple of days and I didn't notice at all.
I was tied up in some stuff.
really, that's the best excuse I have. jeez I need a break
in other news, *anyone* who spends a lot of time staring at a screen should look into this. it allows me to point at things both comfortably and accurately. you can also turn the scrollbar into a smooth flywheel that will spin for quite some time.

New Part-Tracker feature |
Hey folks, added a cool new feature for the part-tracker. Everything seems to be working here, so I cleaned out the database, and I'm going to go ahead and bring it online. On all member profiles, you will now find a tab named "My Gear" - this will be a listing of all of the parts that you have submitted to the part-tracker system. you may browse other member's profiles and see just the parts that they have entered. email contact links are there as well as links allowing you to manage all your junk, er valuable equipment.

Control your VCR with a text message |
Frisnit.com shows you how to control a VCR with SMS (cell phone) - "Imagine it, it's 3:15 on a weekday afternoon and you've just realised you've forgotten to set the video to tape 'Pet Rescue'. Usually you would be condemned to an afternoon of misery and disappointment, knowing you had no heartwarming cute animal stories to come home to. But not any more. Below I describe a simple interface between a T28 mobile phone (ME) and Matsui VX770 VCR to allow remote recording of programmes." [via] - Link
