Open Source Does Matter ... E-mail

fta "Joomla! is moving to ensure the future of the project by committing to compliance with the GNU/GPL licence. This decision reflects a lengthy introspection combined with legal considerations to properly secure the project in the spirit of Open Source. For us, for everyone, Open Source does matter."

okay... just to throw my two cents out there, I don't have any problem with someone wanting to charge for a Joomla extension. I have bought a number of them (some just to play around, but never actually implement in a live environment).

Programming takes time, and a lot of these cats code in what they have left outside of a "regular" job. If you wanna sell something, it seems proper to at least provide some form of support devices (faq/forum/bugtracker).

personally, I love this CMS, and I would really hate to see an issue such as this tear everything asunder.
